If You Knew the Gift of God…

John 4:5-15

Set List:
Sing a Song
Give You Glory
We Are Hungry
At the Foot of the Cross
Mystery of Mercy
Welcome

Basic gist:
Christ meets the woman at the well and offers her “living water” and through this action speaks volumes about His purpose on Earth. The woman was not only a despised Samaritan (according to Jewish culture) but also shunned by her own community because of an unfaithful marriage. Why else would she come to the well alone at noon? Christ convinces her that He is the Messiah by commenting on her past, and offering her forgiveness. Christ meets us where we are, and offers us what only He can give…refreshment for our thirsty souls.

Celebrating Your Call in Mission
(Special guest: Denise Honeycut, Director of Missions, Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church)

John 14:8-14

Set List:
Face of Love
If We Are the Body
Our Great God
Hallelujah (Your Love Makes Me Sing)
How Great is Our God
Take to the World

Special Elements:
Communion
Meditation: Cry Out to Jesus by Third Day (WOW Worship 2007 DVD)

Basic gist:
Our call is to be people of “miraculous expectation.” Christ has called us to not only follow in His path, but given us the power to do even bigger things than He. He walked the Earth and experienced only that time and place. He did not have the chance to serve a meal at our local homeless shelter. He was not able to help rebuild a house for a victim of the latest hurricane or earthquake. We must be Christ to those people. Anyone who loves other people is a missionary, and the mission field is right outside of our doors. The final piece in being Christ to others is learning the blessing of sacrificial giving. Not giving from our abundance, but truly giving of all we are and all we have.
