The Open Door Worship Experience

An Introduction

Originally published on January 19, 2008
Welcome to The Open Door’s newest venture on the web…a WorshipBlog, if you will. The idea is to (1) share each week’s scripture, theme, set list, and special thoughts about the day’s worship and (2) hear from you, the reader, about your impressions of the songs, comparisons to your own worship experiences, and special feelings about the day’s scripture and how it speaks to your heart and situation.
We believe that worship is a dynamic experience. It is not just a single group of musicians or head pastor leading a scripted liturgy to guide every person in the room through the same experience of the Almighty God. Each person brings a unique slant and circumstance to the act of worship, and we should each be open and accepting of each other’s take on the theme and reference for each week’s worship service.
Therefore, think of this as an ability to share your own experience outside of the four walls of our, or anyone’s, church and an invitation to continue worship through each other’s eyes, ears, and thoughts.
This blog will be updated each Sunday, following The Open Door, which is held at 8:30 each Sunday morning at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Staunton, Virginia.
Feel free to look us up at http://www.myspace.com/opendoorworship, and check back each week for a new experience!
